Note: Creating a Custom Promotion should be done for things that are not listed among the Standard Promotions that you can quickly pick on the platform from “Step 1” of the “Promotions/Announcements” tab
Custom Promotion examples include an ongoing fundraiser, Guest Chef appearance, an interior upgrade, Wine Tasting, closing early etc.
When it comes to Standard/Common Restaurant Promotions, simply select them from the existing list because it's much quicker than creating a custom promotion from scratch!
Guide: Creating a Custom Promotion
- To begin, navigate to "Campaigns & Promotions" under "Marketing" on your SpotHopper admin.
- Click the green "Create Custom Promotion/Announcement" button on the top right of the page.
- Here, you will find a blank template (see below) where you can create a promotion about anything you want, and on whatever marketing channel you want!
- Add the promotion name.
- Select where to direct customers (custom URL or a page on your website) when they click on the promotion from your website, email, socials, texting.
- When you want the promotion to be on your website and where...
- Schedule an email blast.
- Draft a text to your loyal customers!
- Set up your social media posts.
- Plus, once you click “save” the promotion details will collapse so you can preview the email, socials, or pop up you just created!
Note: When choosing a URL for the field “Call to Action/Direct Customers Towards:” you need to have an active ‘Website page’ (e.g., ‘Reservations Page”) on your website in order to direct customers there. Otherwise, your promotions will encourage customers to ‘call to inquire.’
