Make Sure Your Instagram Account is Ready
Before connecting Instagram to SpotHopper, you'll need to verify a few account settings. Most connection issues occur because one of the requirements below has not been completed.
Your Instagram Account Is a Professional Account
SpotHopper can only connect to Instagram Professional Accounts.
To verify your account type:
- Log in to Instagram and navigate to your profile.
- Open Settings and Privacy:
- On mobile, tap the ☰ menu in the upper-right corner.
- On desktop, click More in the lower-left corner, then select Settings.
- Scroll to the For Professionals section and navigate to Account Type and Tools.
If your account is not already a Professional Account, select Switch to Professional Account, choose "Business," and select the category that best describes your business.
Your Instagram Account Is Connected to Your Facebook Business Page
Your Instagram account must be connected to the Facebook Business Page you want to use with SpotHopper.
To verify your connection:
- Log in to Facebook and switch to the Business Page you want to connect.
- Navigate to Settings & Privacy → Settings.
- From the left sidebar, scroll to the Permissions section and select Linked Accounts.
If your Instagram account is connected, you'll see it listed under Instagram.

If no Instagram account appears, click "Connect Account," and follow Meta's prompts to connect your Instagram account.

Check for Account Restrictions
Even if your Instagram account is connected to Facebook, account restrictions within Meta can prevent it from connecting to SpotHopper.
To check for restrictions:
- Log in to Facebook and switch to the appropriate Business Page.
- Navigate to Settings & Privacy → Settings → Linked Accounts.
- Select your connected Instagram account.
If your Instagram account appears similar to the example below, your connection is healthy and ready for SpotHopper.
If you see any warnings, restrictions, permission issues, or prompts requiring action, resolve them before attempting to connect your account to SpotHopper.
You should also review your Meta account for any pending issues or restrictions.

Common actions required by Meta include:
