Setting Up Texting
Get started with SpotHopper Texting! Learn how to enable the texting feature to promote your events, specials, and more - directly to your customers’ phones.

Setting Up Texting
1. To begin, navigate to the "Texting" tab under "Marketing" in your SpotHopper admin.
2. At the bottom of the page, click the "Enable Texting Marketing" button. This will open the "Texting Settings" page.
3. Select the texting package you want to sign up for. There are four packages available, each at different price points.
4. After choosing the desired package, input the phone number that will receive replies from customers.
This number is hidden from your customers. When a customer replies to a text sent through SpotHopper, their text is forwarded to that phone number. They can only see your number if you text them back directly.
5. Enter your restaurant name. Keep it short—every character counts toward the 160-character limit for each text blast. After all the fields are filled out, hit the "Save" button on the bottom right.
Texting Permissions
The "Texting Permissions" section allows you to set up where and how customers will be asked to opt in to get text messages.
Make sure to enable opt-in options wherever possible, and craft a message that’s fun and reflects your brand.
Select "View QR Code Flyers" at the bottom of the Settings page to see flyers promoting text sign-ups. Print and display them so customers can scan and opt in!
Number Verification
After initially setting up texting, your SMS number must be verified before you can start sending texts. This short process keeps texting secure and helps prevent spam.
If the texting verification process is in progress, you will see a "Texting Verification Pending" banner on the Texting page.
In most cases, the verification process takes a few days to complete. Once the number has been verified, you can start sending text blasts to your customers. Learn how to create and send text here.
